What is a Net Zero home?
Net Zero homes are homes that produce as much energy as they use on a yearly basis. This is usually done by first building a house that requires less energy, and pairing it with renewable energy sources such as solar and geothermal. As Lethbridge’s 7 consecutive Energy Efficient Housing award winner, we can help you get to Net Zero.
An existing home can also be retrofitted to Net Zero.
What are the steps to reach Net Zero?
I. Site Planning
When designing for Net Zero, we take into account what home orientation and window placement will most effectively utilize passive solar gains.
Thick walls with innovative framing, superior insulation, and air-tightness will reduce heat loss in your home and make you Net Zero Ready.
III. Renewable Energy
With solar and geothermal energy supplementing your energy-efficient home, you can now break even (or better) on energy production and use.
What are the benefits of custom Net Zero homes?
Proper air sealing, high-performance windows, efficient heating and cooling systems, LED lighting, and increased, continuous insulation will keep energy usage low, and save you money on your utilities.
Live More Comfortably
An energy efficient home will hold a consistent temperature throughout every part of the home, including the basement, the second story, and near windows. Thick, well-insulated walls block out noise from wind, cars, and neighbours.
Better Return on Investment
Our homes are BUILT GREEN® certified to be sustainable and durable, and will outlast traditional homes. Our homes offer less maintenance, higher resale values, and lower operating costs.
Superior Air Quality
Even though we spend roughly half our lives in our homes, too many possess toxic materials. We commit to eliminating radon from entering, and reducing the toxins that enter our homes. We also use ENERGY STAR® ventilation systems to ensure our homes foster well-being.
Our homes use high-quality, recycled building materials, and we’re the only builder in Lethbridge diverting large amounts of waste to recycling. Our homes incorporate sustainable energy options through solar power (sun), and geothermal heating/cooling (earth).
Save money and build a more comfortable home for your future.
